Mention the idea that taxes are unlawful, unconstitutional, unjust etc at a dinner party, and most people will look at you like you are a freak. “Who is going to pay for the roads?” – “Who will pay for defence?” – “Who will pay for public services?”
Most will complain for hours about how they dislike paying taxes… but it is accepted nonetheless as necessary.
When you state the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) belongs to the Australian Government and not the Government of the Commonwealth (the one in the original constitution)… who cares?
You can say the ‘Acts’ that the ATO rely upon came from the Parliament of Australia and not the Parliament of the Commonwealth (again… the one in the original constitution)… so what?
It’s as if deep inside a program is running that despite logic and reason says “Pay Tax, Pay Tax, Pay Tax” – who would instil such thinking,er … brainwashing?
When most of the population pay tax, you are taught tax in school, encouraged to find a good accountant to minimise tax when working, there’s little room for thinking outside the brown paper bag… we are groomed from an early age to be Taxpayers.
